Senate House is a major repository for works of art by Kingston native John Vanderlyn (1775-1852), including his Niagara Falls landscapes and the famous classical work, "Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos." The museum also features notable works by other prominent early American artists, including Ammi Phillips, Joseph Tubby, James Bard and Thomas Sully
